Plaid

Plaid is the technology platform providing the tools and access needed for the development of a fully modern, and digitally-enabled financialsystem.

Overview

Plaid makes it easier and safer for developers — from the smallest startups to the largest financial institutions — to build innovative financial services and applications. Plaid
offers beautiful consumer experiences, developer-friendly infrastructure, and intelligence tools that give everyone the ability to build the future of financial services.

Plaid’s platform lets users connect their bank accounts to finance apps and transfer money. For example, Plaid’s technology lets Venmo’s customers pay their friends and family. Plaid works with other well-known fintechs, including investment platform Robinhood; Transferwise, which offers international money transfers; and Coinbase, a digital currency exchange.

More than 3,000 Mobile Apps, 10,000 Financial Institutions, and over 25% of adults in the United States use Plaid. It’s likely that any application you’re using that connects to your bank or credit accounts is using Plaid—or will be soon. Plaid is safe, reliable, and designed for customers and businesses who want to make secure financial access totally seamless.
Plaid has raised more than $315 million through 5 funding rounds over the past 8 years, from investors like Goldman Sachs, Index Ventures, Spark Capital and others. Visa was going to acquire Plaid last year, before the U.S. Department of Justice blocked the deal due to Visa acquiring Plaid would give VIsa an unfair advantage over other innovative online debit services for merchants and consumers
